We’re continuing to receive questions about our night light inserts, so we wanted to take some more time and explain everything in a bit more detail. As you search online through pages and pages of night light options, if you’re anything like me, you’re probably looking for a special theme or style that fits your need at that particular time. After all, that Christmas night light that looked amazingly cute in December, just won’t cut it in July. We understand that completely! Plus, there’s always that new season or holiday right around the corner. What’s a person to do?

No worries, Night Light Designs has you covered. The days of having separate night lights for every different occasion are long gone. We’ve made it easy for you to have one light, all year long. All of our photograph inserts are switchable. Therefore, all you have to do is to choose a new picture for whatever season you’re interested in, and switch it out in the light that you already have. One light, all year long! We’ve got an incredibly large selection of inserts for every season and holiday, so you won’t have any problems in finding that perfect picture. Don’t forget, not only can you choose from our large selection of predesigned night lights, but we can also create a special custom night light for you. That’s right, send us your own picture and we’ll create an insert from your own image.

The number one question that we always receive from our customers has to do with the orientation of the night light. For example, if you have a horizontal (landscape) night light, can you put a vertical (portrait) insert in it? The quick answer…no. Some people believe that since the plug rotates, you can use any orientation of picture and just turn the plug. Unfortunately, that’s not true since turning the plug only corrects the direction of the outlet, not the orientation of the light. So bottom line, turning the light on its side is something we strongly suggest you never do. Why? Well, it’s mostly because you always want the light’s heat vent on top. By rotating the light, you place the vent on the side which will not properly vent the light. So, we recommend you never display the night light in any direction other than what it was intended (with the heat vent on top).

All is not lost though. The good news is that there is an easy option for you to allow the use inserts of different orientations in the same night light. Let me explain. The only difference between the landscape and portrait lights, is the white backing. All the other pieces on the light are exactly the same. Therefore, if you have a landscape light and wish to put a portrait insert in it, all you need to do is to purchase a portrait backing, not an entirely new night light. Those can be found on our Parts page in the Night Light section. We also have a video posted on our Home page in the Video How-To’s section that shows you exactly how to do that. So, you no longer have to search for only landscape or portrait replaceable inserts. Go ahead and search for any picture you want.

We also get asked how and where to store the inserts when you’re not using them. We recommend you store them in a dark location like a drawer or box. Doing that will significantly extend the useful life of the night light inserts. We do sell Insert Wallets on our website that are great for storing them, but anything that reduces the unnecessary light exposure and keeps the dust off of them, works. Do to the high quality and environmentally friends inks we use when printing our inserts, the images are highly resistant to fading, but it always helps to keep them in the dark when not in use.

So go ahead, check out our selection of night light inserts and choose new pictures for every season, holiday or event. The Predesigned Night Light page makes it easy for you to find your perfect picture. You can easily search by Title, Artist or Keywords, or you can simply select a Category and view the images there. You’ll definitely find that switching out the pictures makes your Night Light Designs night light seem like it’s new all over again! If you’re anything like us, you’ll find yourself looking forward to bringing out the new pictures throughout the year. We hope you find that perfect picture!

As always, if you ever have any questions about our night lights, just let us know. We’re happy to assist you!
